Building on their successful UK collaboration, Ignition Technology has announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with SailPoint, a leader in enterprise identity security, extending its successful UK collaboration into France, Germany, Benelux and the Nordics. The move strengthens Ignition’s identity security portfolio across Europe and enables channel partners to help customers secure and govern the growing number of human, machine and AI identities within modern enterprises.
As organisations increasingly adopt AI technologies, identity has become the critical control point for managing risk, maintaining compliance and enabling innovation. Ignition and SailPoint will help organisations gain visibility, governance and control across their entire identity ecosystem, including AI-powered platforms and autonomous agents.
Addressing AI-Driven Identity Challenges
The expanded partnership brings SailPoint’s AI governance capabilities to customers across the UK, Nordics, Benelux, France and Germany, enabling organisations to:
- Secure access to AI platforms through unified visibility and governance of users, groups, roles and non-human identities.
- Govern AI agents alongside human identities using consistent security and compliance controls.
- Apply adaptive, context-aware access policies based on identity, activity and risk.
- Reduce Shadow AI exposure and support compliance with emerging European regulatory requirements.
“We’re delighted to extend our partnership with SailPoint into France and Germany,” said Sean Remnant, Chief Strategy Officer at Ignition Technology. “Identity has become the foundation of modern cybersecurity and is increasingly central to how organisations adopt AI securely. SailPoint’s leadership in identity security combined with Ignition’s specialist channel expertise creates a compelling opportunity for partners and customers across Europe.”
“Extending our relationship with SailPoint across Europe reflects both the strength of the technology and the growing demand we’re seeing from customers,” continued Remnant, “AI is creating new opportunities for organisations, but it is also introducing new identity challenges. The ability to govern human users, machine identities and AI agents through a single security framework is becoming essential. Together with SailPoint, we’re helping organisations embrace AI innovation with greater confidence, visibility and control.“
Remco Postma, Vice President, Partners & Alliances EMEA at SailPoint, commented: “SailPoint enables enterprises to discover, manage and secure all identities, including machine and AI identities, while maintaining governance and compliance. Expanding our partnership with Ignition Technology into France and Germany will help more organisations across Europe build secure foundations for their AI-driven futures.”
Customers will benefit from SailPoint’s adaptive identity security capabilities, including centralised visibility across enterprise identities, governance of non-human and AI identities, and intelligent access controls that respond dynamically to context and risk.
Empowering the Northern European Channel
This expansion accelerates Ignition’s momentum across EMEA and further strengthens Ignition’s position as a leading specialist distributor enabling European channel partners to capture high-growth opportunities by delivering critical identity and AI security solutions as organizations increasingly prioritise these strategies.
Identity is becoming a much bigger problem
Attackers are continuing to exploit legitimate credentials to log in to systems, rather than just breaking through traditional defences. Once inside, they have the power to inherit existing permissions. This issue is leading CISOs to become more focused on identity to understand how to manage the rising threats.
Traditional approaches to identity management are becoming outdated as they struggle to keep pace with this changing landscape. Organisations need to monitor both human and non-human identities to identify suspicious activity before it transforms into a larger incident. During the episode, the pair discuss how organisations are using the roll of AI to improve business productivity, but governance and risk are seen as an afterthought.
Context is as important as visibility
Collecting security data isn’t enough if teams lack the context to understand what it means. David explains that traditional logging tools don’t always provide sufficient information to determine whether an unusual login or action is malicious. Security teams can spend valuable time investigating individual signals without knowing whether they represent a genuine threat.
As the number of identities and automated interactions grows, understanding normal behaviour becomes increasingly important. Organisations need to bring together information from different sources to build a clearer picture of what’s happening across their environments.
Response time matters
AI agents can streamline processes and improve efficiency, but the same speed that makes them useful can also amplify the impact of a mistake. AI agents can now move at 20,000x the speed of humans.
During the episode, David gives the example of an AI-powered booking system that suddenly starts issuing refunds to thousands of customers. Without appropriate safeguards and oversight, an automated process could create significant financial issues before a team has time to intervene.
